A YOGA FRIEND,A YOGA STUDENT AND A YOGA TEACHER

" Yoga is the cultivation of a particular form of understanding: it is an investigation into the nature of our innermost being, in order to develop nothing less than it's constant radiant manifestation" - the great master Abhinavagupta,in The Essence of Tantra,c1010 CE

I was always very active in sports and I began my yoga studies as a young woman in Kaivalyadhama on Marine Drive ,Mumbai and continued to study under various teachers on my travels and journeys. Many Years later i did my first 250 Hour teacher training at Yoga Vidya Gurukul,an ashram in India and was certified to teach .The course entailed Yoga, Pranayama, Meditation Training,Teaching Techniques , Philosophy ,Applications of Yoga and Yoga Therapy. The School was joined to the great tradition of Swami Satyananda Saraswati of Bihar School of Yoga and we were taught as per the traditional Indian Style of Yoga, according to the classical books of Hatha Yoga Pradipika and Ashtanga Yoga based on Patanjali Yoga Sutra .

Since then i have been studying Iyengar Yoga under Ian Lewis in Goa,and the primary series of Ashtanga yoga under Vijay Kumar in Mysore and Sharmila Desai in Goa.I have also attended Pranayama classes by the Living Legend of Ashthanga Yoga of Mysore B.N.S. Iyengar.I have also participated in various workshops to deepen my knowledge under Senior Iyengar Yoga Teacher Zubin Zarthoshtimanesh and Sri H.S.Arun.

My teachings integrate the traditional Hatha ,Ashthanga and Iyengar system and for those with injuries or physical limitations i adapt the practice to their individual needs.Being a mother of a sweet little boy and having practiced yoga before, during and after my pregnancy ,also offer pregnancy and post natal yoga classes.Yoga can be enjoyed right from the period of conception until delivery with different yoga practices for the 3 semesters during pregnancy.I can guide other mothers to be with a suitable diet plan, relaxation processes, breathing awareness and other health tips and with post natal exercises for fast recovery ,comfort after delivery, activity in the early days after delivery, caesarean delivery do's and don'ts and help in getting back to a normal shape.

I choose to always be a student of what I love,All of it. I have a lighthearted attention to detail and passionate dedication to the practice. It can be a struggle at times but my yoga is the underlying force keeping all of the pieces together.Yoga is really the art of waking up and getting back to the true you,it can be that simple. Yoga offers us a way for us to see a world that is working for us instead of against us. Yoga reminds me that everything is connected so we must live, act, dance, breathe with awareness. If the journey really is the reward, then I choose to enjoy the journey.
